Gloria Trevi was born in Monterrey, Mexico on February 15th, 1968. She debuted in the pop group Boquitas Pintadas in the middle of 1980s. Her first solo album with the label BMG/Ariola "...Que hago aqui?", was released in 1989 and produced by Sergio Andrade. It includes several hits such as "Dr. Psiquiatra" which was her first hit in Mexico on TV and radio, and the Rolling Stones cover "Saisfecha" ('Satisfaction'). She won plenty awards and three Golden Discs by high record sales.
Her success continues in 1991 with her second album "Tu Angel de la Guarda" wich contains her major hit to date "Pelo Suelto". The album was releasd in many countries including Spain, United States and most South America. The fans and critics admired her with her explosive and sexy image that delivered in the concerts.
The next year she debuted as an actress in her first movie "Pelo Suelto" that was considered as the top grossing film of the history in Mexico. Also she released her third album "Me Siento tan Sola" filled of rock influences and the first single title inspired Sergio Andrade to produce her second comedy movie "Zapatos Viejos".
1994 was the year of top success releasing her fourth rock album "Mas Turbada que Nunca" with the hit singles "La Papa sin Catsup" and "El Recuento de los Daños". Her third movie "Una Papa sin Catsup" was written and directed by Sergio Andrade.
"Si me llevas contigo" was her fifth solo album followed by sold out calendars and tours that consolidated Gloria as one of the most talented artists in Latin music history.
On September 21, 2004, Trevi was acquitted and set free by a Mexican court, citing a lack of evidence in the case. She had spent nearly five years incarcerated in Brazil and Mexico by injustices.
Upon her release from prison, Trevi quickly hit the studio, recording her latest album, "Como Nace el Universo", which scored decent success in the United States, being certified gold. She subsequently embarked upon a nation-wide tour titled "Trevolution", but it was briefly post-poned due to an unexpected pregnancy. The tour was resumed in Phoenix, Arizona.
Although she is still an energetic performer, Trevi has not made a full reversion to her raunchy, obscene, and wild concert antics with which she shocked Mexico in the 1990s.
2006 compiled her career with a greatest hits live "La Trayectoria" recorded during her "Trevolution" tour in Monterrey and Mexico City and released under her the label Univision Music. Includes the hits "Todos me Miran" and "Estrella de la Mañana". |
